Let's Go, AO!
Hello Ray Families! Well, it's June. Only 13 more school days left in the year. Only 13 more days of Auburn Online, as we've known it. I say this knowing that change is difficult but also with excitement for the new ongoing ALE approach as it continues to serve the ASD online community. Please note, if you are staying with AO-ALE next year, please review the following grade level links for greater understanding: AO-ALE Elementary, AO-ALE Middle School, AO-ALE High School. If you are not staying with Auburn Online for next year, please reach out to your in person school ASAP, if you haven't already. You will want to complete necessary paperwork for them and become a part of their scheduling and communications for the upcoming year. We will be unenrolling students who are not staying with AO at the end of this school year. Seniors, diplomas will be mailed in early July. If you would like to pick yours up at the main office, they will be available starting the week of June 26th thru June 30th. If you are walkingat graduation with your in person school, ENJOY YOUR BIG DAY--YOU DID IT! And congratulations to our scholarship winners! As well, a big thank you to our high school teachers who created this special scholarship out of their love for AO students. Read on for end of the year celebrations and materials/curriculum return information. So much to do, so little time! Please help us help your learners stay focused and end strong! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having been a part of this awesome community of Rays this year. I speak for all our staff in saying, it has been a wonderful year and an amazing opportunity to serve each and every AO RAY! Happy Summer planning, Nola Wilson Critical Year End InformationPlease print and read the Technology and Materials Return form linked here. It will help you determine which technology and materials to begin gathering… AND… when your child’s End of Year Celebration will take place. You will need your calendar handy as to determine a Materials Drop off event that best fits your families’ schedule. Note: There are very specific instructions AND events based on your student’s current class/teacher AND whether your student will be staying with AO, returning to their home school, or leaving the district. Please read this carefully and share with all adults in the home. Should you have any questions, please contact the main office at 253-931-4715. High School Seniors Awarded: Nola Wilson - Manta Ray ScholarshipAuburn Online is excited to present four seniors - Brooke Hamilton, Justin Martin, Kira Carralez, and Jekyla Beasley - as our 2023 Nola Wilson - Manta Ray Scholarship recipients. As we move towards graduation it is hard to express the joy we feel for all of our high school seniors. The world is open for all of you to grow and flourish! The Scholarship, funded by donations from Auburn Online staff, will help Brooke, Justin, Kira, and Jekyla pursue their next steps in life. Brooke plans to earn a certification in cosmetology to start her own business with the aims of going to law school and becoming a lawyer. Justin has been accepted to Saint Martin's University and plans to major in biochemistry. Kira plans to go to Pima Medical Institute to become a surgical technologist. Jekyla plans to pursue a career in anesthesiology. The $500 and $750 scholarships awarded will help students pay for these programs! Applications for the scholarship included short essay responses. Some of which we would like to share with the Auburn Online community as a whole. When asked how AO has impacted her, Kira wrote “AO has impacted me to become more responsible and independent. AO has taught me to focus more and learn the best strategies for myself to be able to learn, and do my work to the best of my ability.” These are skills that will no doubt help her succeed as she transitions into adulthood. To that same prompt, Justin responded that, “online school allowed me to be myself and be comfortable in my own learning environment which as a result heavily influenced my growth and development academically and as a person.” Over the past two years, it has been a constant joy to see so many AO students grow into themselves and grow academically. As we look towards the end of the year and graduation for seniors, many changes and opportunities lay ahead. The Auburn Online community hopes each of you make the most of those opportunities and think back fondly on the memories you made as proud Rays! Brooke puts into words best, what most of us are thinking… “I never thought I’d say that a school has helped me as much as this one has. The people, the classes, and most importantly the teachers here are amazing and I couldn’t be more grateful for them.” Congratulations Brooke, Justin, Kira, and Jekyla. We are so proud of you! And to all Rays, thank you all for leaving a mark on our hearts!
